"Carmageddon," the term coined to describe the traffic nightmare that was to ensue upon the closing of a stretch of the 405 freeway in Los Angeles, has ended, and in fact never actually materialized. For those of us who stayed in town, the city was downright peaceful at times. We stayed close to home, remembering that there isn’t always something that has to be done or some place we must go. The sun cooperated by shining bright while turning down the intensity of its rays so that beach trips were not mandatory. "Carmageddon" played out as a lazy summer weekend always should.
